Gone are the days when you have to drag yourself (and maybe your kids) out of the house, fight crowds, search for the things you need, and stand in line forever. It’s now easier than ever to get your groceries without all the hassle and save money!
Why I love grocery delivery
- I have kids. Dragging the kids out to the grocery store is a pain in the butt. Especially now that my two-year-old thinks he needs to walk instead of ride in the cart or stroller. This almost always results in me spending 75% of my time chasing him in the opposite direction of where we need to be and dragging him kicking and screaming back to get what I need while all the other people in the store
stare. Not my idea of a good time.
- I detest grocery shopping. Even as a kid, I hated when my mom would drag me to the grocery store up and down all the aisles to get the food we would need for the whole month. It’s seriously my least favorite chore. But now I don’t have to do it! I can order all my groceries online and either go pick them up (without leaving my car) or have them delivered directly to my door!
- My husband has a horrible habit of going to the store with a list of like three things and coming home with about five bags full of stuff. And he doesn’t even get the things from the list. 🤷♀️ With online grocery shopping, it’s harder for us to get sidetracked by all the clever tricks they use in stores to get us to buy things we don’t really need. Plus it’s easier to make sure you’ve got everything because you don’t have to worry about keeping track of a list. You can just do a quick check in the fridge or pantry to make sure you haven’t forgotten anything. Or, if you’re really on top of it, you can just keep a running cart going throughout the week and add to it every time you see you need something!
With Walmart Grocery Pickup, skip the lines and have your order brought to you! This is the service we use for our family and it’s completely free. Just pull up their website, select your groceries and submit your order. It’s really that simple.
Now, I’m not usually a huge fan of Walmart, but with their grocery pickup, you don’t even have to get out of your car. Once you get to the store, a Walmart associate will bring your order out to your car in their designated pickup area. You’ll have an opportunity to review your order and accept or deny any substitutions you might have. Walmart grocery does accept EBT at some locations, but they don’t yet accept gift cards.
Amazon Fresh is a grocery delivery service through Amazon. When you join you can order all of your groceries online, select a delivery time and Amazon will select the freshest food items to deliver right to your door at your chosen time.
One downside is that it is not currently available in all locations, which is why I have not been able to give this one a try. But if you are able to use this amazing service where you live, you’ll be doing yourself a favor!
Instacart is another grocery delivery service which allows you to have groceries delivered to your door from many of your local favorites like Sam’s Club, Aldi, Schnucks, Hy-Vee, and more.
Select your location and Instacart will tell you which stores are available in your area. Once you select your store and order your groceries, a local Instacart shopper will go to the store, do your shopping for you, and then deliver your groceries right to your door.
There is a small fee associated with the delivery, but it’s totally worth it for the convenience of not having to go to the grocery store yourself!
There are lots of other options for grocery pickup or delivery these days. In addition to the three I’ve already mentioned, you can check out any of the following. I’ll admit, I’ve not used any of these, so I can’t speak to the service and quality of the products, but check them out if you want!
If you’re a mom (or anyone really) who could benefit from one less errand to run every week, grocery delivery may be the perfect thing for you. It has really made our lives so much easier! Instead of dragging uncooperative kids through the aisles of the grocery store, we can sit at home in our pj’s, enjoy a show, and save some money while we’re at it!
